It’s Not Too Late To Cop Tickets For ‘Donuts Are Forever 12’ At Brooklyn Bowl
14 February 2018 News
The annual fundraiser and tribute, Donuts Are Forever, returns for its 12th installment, as Donwill, DJ GetLive, DJ Parler & more pay homage to Dilla.
Rare Form’s annual fundraiser and tribute series, better known as Donuts Are Forever, is back for its 12th installment at New York City’s Brooklyn Bowl. For those who might not have heard about the legendary event, Donuts Are Forever pays homage to the late, great producer / emcee James “J Dilla” Yancey, as DJs such as Questlove, DJ Jazzy Jeff, MICK and others served as headliners for this good cause.
Taking place this Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, which is President’s Day Weekend, Donuts Are Forever 12 will feature sounds from Donwill, DJ Parler, DJ GetLive, The Whooligan and more with Mike Baker the Bike Maker serving as the night’s host. Proceeds from Donuts Are Forever 12 go directly to benefit Groundwork for Success and Building Beats, which provide DJ and music programs to underserved youth.
To date, over $67,000 have been collected over the past 11 years.
Courtesy of the homie Dee Phunk, the team shared an exclusive quote with us about the event, which you can read below:
Donuts are Forever is celebrating its 12th year. We are amazed that we are able to come together annually (often in frigid temperatures) to throw one big party honoring one of the best musicians of all time. We do this on a shoestring budget with barely any sponsorship, often times none at all. We are so fortunate to have the help of some dope DJ friends as well as some amazing designers who give us a fresh look every year. The crowd always comes ready to party.
The lineup is strong every year but this is one of the first years we’re having a DJ from overseas, Khalil, who holds residency at London’s best hip-hop Party, Livin’ Proof. We’re also really honored to have The Whooligan of Soulection, a collective who has done so much to advance beat culture on an international level. We’re also really excited to have Nyah and Twelve45 representing Building Beats, one of the organizations that receives proceeds from the event. Donwill (of Tanya Morgan), a mainstay at DAF, returns in a DJ capacity for the first time. And rounding out the lineup are an encore set from GETLIVE! (who first spun at DAF6 in 2012) and our resident/veteran crowd mover DJ Parler.
It’s not too late to get into this once-in-a-lifetime event. Check here to get the tickets and see the full flyer information below.
