Police Investigating Fake Listen Out Tickets, After Dozens Conned

11 October 2018 News

Police have launched an investigation after dozens of people inadvertently purchased fake tickets to the Melbourne leg of Listen Out festival.

Victoria Police say a 25-year-old woman from Port Melbourne purchased two $180 tickets through one of the festival’s social media accounts, only to be refused entry when she arrived at the festival in St Kilda on 22nd September, because the original ticket had already been scanned.

Police say the very same ticket had been scanned a total of 149 times on the day, leading them to believe “a large number of other people may have also fallen victim to the scam”.

Police have urged other victims to come forward, and are asking anyone with information regarding the scam to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

Music Feeds has contacted Listen Out promoters Fuzzy for comment.

Last month, police said they were also investigating an alleged sexual assault which occurred at the Melbourne leg of the festival, and released a photo of a man they hoped to speak to.

Around 18,000 people attended Listen Out in Melbourne this year, and police were generally “pleased” with crowd behaviour, despite some arrests.
